I have meetings virtually at least once a week. I generally am more anxious than excited about it, even though I always enjoy it once we're going.
The small talk is necessary but often hard to do virtually and harder to know how to segue into the work. Icebreakers are a great way to do both.
I start the branding process (in Miro) with an Icebreaker, This or That.
I love board games. Anything that feels like a game makes me happy and is more fun. I start the branding process by letting the client(s) sort through cards with personality trait words on them.
1. Discard the words that aren't applicable by moving the cards to the fire hydrant.
2. Keep the words that fit by dragging them to the keep area with the shoe.
3. We do another sort of the keep pile by choosing those that fit more than other and dragging them to the Top 7-10 area with the hot dog.
The Top 7-10 section sets us up for the big card reveal that really starts to bring your brand expression to life.
I'll be recording a demo of each and also share how my values exercise in Miro is similar and where it differs. Both are great decks with unique features.
The deck on the left or #1 is what I’ve been working on for myself until I found it. Each card has a word on the white side and its antonym on the black side.
When you and/or your client are done sorting the cards, you can not only identify who you/they are but also who/what they are NOT!
This could become my most used deck!
The deck on the right or #2 has additional worksheets and probing questions to dig deeper and put them into practice:
